In the light of what happened in Geneva last Thursday, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka’s latest book ‘Long War, Cold Peace: Conflict and Crisis in Sri Lanka’, which will be launched today (23) at 4 p.m. at the ‘Checkerboard’, Park Street Mews, Colombo 2, will be of tremendous significance.

Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, who led the Sri Lanka delegation to the UNHRC in 2009, speaks out on his experiences. In addition to analysing current events and Sri Lanka’s relations with other countries, especially India, the book also deals with politics and its extension – war and looks ahead to the future. He also asks: What could prevent a recurrence of conflict?

Dayan Jayatilleka, PhD, is a political scientist, author, commentator, academic, former political activist and a Sri Lankan diplomat, serving as Ambassador to the UN in Geneva and till January 2013, to France and the UNESCO.
