Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard pays farewell call

The outgoing Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Rear Admiral AARA Dias paid a farewell call to the Secretary of Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday at the ministry premises.

A highly decorated officer, Rear Admiral Dias is the second naval officer to head the SLCG Department. He assumed duties as the Director General of SLCG on 7 March 2007. Since Rear Admiral Dias assumed his duties, many visionary measures have been taken to uplift and expand the department in par with international standards.

Secretary of Defence and the outgoing Director General had a cordial discussion. The Secretary of Defence thanked the Rear Admiral Dias for all the services and wished him well on all his future endeavours.

A memento was also given to the Secretary of Defence by the outgoing Director General to mark the occasion.
