Buddhist monks from human rights activity organisations stand in front of the Saudi Embassy in Colombo yesterday, as they demand the release of detained Sri Lankan migrant worker Premanath Perera.
The demonstrators demanded the release of Perera who had been jailed in Saudi Arabia for allegedly worshipping an image of Lord Buddha. Activists say the Sri Lankan worker had been convicted recently and want Sri Lankan authorities to secure his release and bring him back to the island – Reuters
