Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Faiszer Musthapha yesterday said that the Delimitation Appeal Committee had promised to submit the complete report of delimitations on 17 January.
Mustapha said that Committee Chairman Asoka Peiris had informed the Ministry Secretary Kamal Padmasiri that the report would be handed over on 17 January.
UNP representative Senior Lawyer Abdul Sattar M. Misbah, who is yet to sign the report, is expected to do so by 17 January, Musthapha said.
The Minister also said that he would gazette the report two days after its submission after closely scrutinising it.
Last week Musthapha refused to accept the report when Committee Chairman Peiris presented it, pointing out that only three members of the five-member committee had signed.
Mustapha said that he rejected the report because it was illegal to accept the report. He further said that he was directed by the Attorney General to not to accept the report without its endorsement from all five members. (CG)
