The Court of Appeal yesterday rejected a request for an interim order to suspend Harin Fernando from administering his duties as the Uva Province Chief Minister.
The petition was filed by United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) General Secretary Susil Premajayantha and several UPFA members of the Uva Provincial Council challenging the appointment of Fernando as Chief Minister.
The court rejected the request to suspend Fernando but granted permission to hear the petition.
The Court of Appeal stated that the petition would be taken up on 15 June and asked for objections to be submitted before that date.
