MP Wimal Weerawansa and seven others were issued notice to appear before the Court over protesting near the United Nations complex during a top UN official’s visit.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya issued notice to MP Wimal Weerawansa and seven others to appear in Court on 18 March for obstructing Bauddhaloka Mawatha and Havelock Road during a protest campaign on 6 February.
The National Freedom Front, Sri Lanka’s opposition political party led by MP Wimal Weerawansa, organised the protest against the visit of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, outside the UN Office complex at Thunmulla Junction.
