A Sri Lankan court Thursday ordered to further remand 110 Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu until 6 January. The Sri Lankan Navy arrested the 110 fishermen on 11 December in the seas off Foul Point in Trincomalee for crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and entering into Sri Lankan waters for poaching. The court in Thungamalli has extended the remand of the fishermen according to the Indian media report. The Sri Lankan Government has recently adopted a new policy of detaining Indian fishermen arrested for poaching in Sri Lankan waters for a long time and confiscating their boats to deter them from trespassing into Sri Lankan waters.
