A complaint has been made at the Anti-Corruption Committee Office against former Minister and EPDP leader, Douglas Devananda.
Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran and Chairman of the Point Pedro Pradeshiya Sabha T. Sanjeeva have lodged the complaint against the former Minister today.
In their complaint, the two Tamil politicians have said that the Maheshwari Foundation operative in Jaffna was engaged in illegal sand mining.
They also noted that the Foundation is headed by Douglas Devananda. Maheshwari Foundation is reportedly the NGO arm of the EPDP.
The complainants pointed out that no permission had been obtained from any local Government body for sand mining. They said the sand obtained in this manner was sold at high prices. (Colombopage)
