The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has commenced a programme to redesign and beautify the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.
The programme to give a facelift to the city of Colombo first commenced during the IIFA awards held in Sri Lanka in June this year.
According to CMC Chief City Administrator Omar Kamil among the projects to be undertaken is the allocation of more parking facilities in the city and construction of special foot paths on the Galle Road for the pedestrians.
He told the local media that the redesigning and restoration process of the Galle Road from Bambalapitiya junction to Kollupitiya junction is currently in progress.
Under the programme, the road is to be widened into a five-lane stretch to ease the traffic congestion.
