Chinese President Xi Jinping expects the bilateral relationship with Sri Lanka to expand, the media unit of the United National Party said yesterday.
The UNP media unit said that the Chinese President had expressed this view when he met the new Sri Lankan Ambassador to China Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku.
Kodituwakku presented his credentials to the Chinese President at the Great Hall recently and later had a short discussion with the President.
The UNP media unit said that Kodituwakku had conveyed the warm wished of the President and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka during the meeting.
The Chinese leader had then recalled his successful visit to Sri Lanka and also noted the historic ties between both countries.
The Chinese President said expected the relationship between Sri Lanka and China to further expand during the tenure of the new Sri Lankan Ambassador, the UNP media unit said. (Colombo Gazette)
