China ratifies treaty with Sri Lanka on criminal judicial assistance

China’s top legislature on Monday has approved a criminal judicial assistance treaty between China and Sri Lanka, Chinese official news agency Xinhua reported.

According to a statement from the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, the treaty was reached after friendly negotiations and it accords with the basic principles of Chinese law, China’s interests and actual needs.

Exchanges between China and Sri Lanka in personnel, trade, culture and tourism have become closer in recent years, and cooperation in judicial assistance needs to be strengthened, Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin while making an explanation to the NPC Standing Committee.
