The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Commission has filed charges against former Transport Minister Kumara Welgama for financial irregularities to the tune of Rs. 3.2 million.
The case was filed in the Colombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday, and Welgama has been noticed to appear before the Court on 12 February.
The Bribery Commission investigations found that Welgama during his tenure as Transport Minister under the Rajapaksa administration, had provided Rs. 3.2 million to the Deputy Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board. (DB)
