A workshop for ministers and parliamentarians of the ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) was held over the weekend in Diyatalawa to enlighten the political leaders on the local and global political situation.
The workshop titled ‘Our Journey’ was launched at the Diyatalawa Military Academy under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Addressing the inaugural session of the workshop Minister Maithripala Sirisena said the political situation that emerged after the 2005 presidential election is taking the country towards high progress.
He said the purpose of the workshop is to extensively discuss the local and international economic and political situation in implementing the Mahinda Chintana policies.
Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabral delivered the keynote address.
Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Dr. Suren Batagoda, Prof. Ranjith Bandara and Mohan Samaranayake addressed the participants in the first session which focused on Sri Lanka’s economy under global economic situation.
The second session of the workshop held Saturday afternoon discussed the subject of mass media and media usage. The discussions included lectures on ‘branding’; media usage in international politics and a lecture titled “from outside the alliance politics.”
