A bogus tour guide was arrested and produced in Court yesterday by the Fort police for allegedly touting foreigners without a valid permit.
When the suspect of Rajagiriya was produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate, he was released on a surety bail of Rs. 50,000. The suspect had been arrested by Fort police while he was touting German national couple at the Lotus Road in Colombo Fort. By producing the suspect in Court, Fort police alleged that the suspect had committed an offence which comes under section eight of the Guiding Ordinance of 1906. At the first instance the suspect pleaded guilty to the charge and subsequently, Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne called for a finger print report over the suspect’s previous criminal records.
