A worker at Sri Lanka’s Bogala Graphite mine in Kegalle has been killed when the mine collapsed yesterday, the Police said.
The incident occurred Saturday morning, according to the Police. A 42-year-old man injured in the accident has died upon admission to the Karawanella Base Hospital. Two others who were injured in the mishap have been admitted to the hospital.
The graphite mine is temporarily closed until preliminary police investigations are completed, a spokesman for Bogala Graphite Plc said.
Pindeniya Police are conducting further investigations.
