The Fort Magistrate yesterday advised the monks of the Bodu Bala Sena not to act in a manner which could harm co-existence among religions in Sri Lanka. The Magistrate gave the advice after releasing the monks on bail when the case over the alleged threat to another monk by the Bodu Bala Sena was taken up for hearing. The monks, including the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena, the venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero, were ordered to appear in court over the recent incident where they had stormed a press conference organised by the Jathika Bala Sena. Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the Bodu Bala Sena monks were released on Rs. 100,000 bail by the Court and the case would be heard again on 9 June. (Colombo Gazette)
