Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa was further remanded yesterday until tomorrow by Kaduwela Magistrate Dhammika Hemapala.
Former Economic Development Ministry Secretary Nihal Jayatilake and former Divineguma Fund Director General R.R.K. Ranawaka were also remanded until tomorrow along with Rajapaksa.
The Kaduwela Magistrate denied the request made by Basil’s lawyers seeking permission to stay in the Colombo National Hospital and Magistrate ordered that Rajapaksa should be sent to Welikada Prison Hospital instead.
Rajapaksa was arrested on 22 April by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) and he was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital after he was arrested. Rajapaksa was remanded over allegations of financial misappropriation concerning the Divi Neguma case.
