Former Economic Development Minister and Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) National Organiser Basil Rajapaksa yesterday was granted three more months of leave from Parliament.
Rajapaksa’s lawyer U.R.D Silva confirmed to Daily FT that his client would continue medical treatment during his three months leave. “The Former Minister is still suffering with his sickness. He needs more treatment,” Silva said.
Silva added that Rajapaksa had written to the Speaker about his poor health. “He will participate in the parliamentary sessions as soon as possible. However, the Police Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID) will continue their investigations,” Silva expressed.
Rajapaksa was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital after he was arrested and remanded over allegations of financial misappropriation.
