For the third consecutive year, the free Poson Vandana shuttle train between Anuradhapura and Mihintale was available for the safety and convenience of Poson pilgrims and this year the train was brightly co-branded and sponsored jointly by AVIVA NDB Insurance and NDB Bank.
AVIVA NDB Insurance facilitated the presence of around 575 lifesavers from the Lifesaving Association of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Police and Navy at reservoirs and lakes in and around Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Dambulla during the Poson season. An estimated one million pilgrims visit Anuradhapura during the Poson season and the AVIVA NDB safety programme has significantly reduced the number of deaths from drowning over the years. This is the 19th consecutive year that the Company conducted a safety programme for Poson pilgrims.
