By Lakmal Sooriyagoda A case where two security officers attached to a private company were alleged to have been involved in assaulting Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena’s son, Daham Tharaka, at the company’s car park in Colombo 2 was amicably settled before Colombo Fort Magistrate yesterday. When the case came up before Magistrate Thilina Gamage, both parties expressed their willingness to settle the case. In this case, Daham Tharaka, the son of Minister Maithripala Sirisena, had lodged a complaint with the Slave Island police that he was assaulted by two security guards of a private company when he was entering the company car park. The complainant further alleged that the two suspects, Ruwan Prasanna and Iriyagaha Gedara Rajapaksha, used criminal force on him after using abusive language. Both parties informed Court that they intended to finish off the case, which was filed against two security guards in 2012. However, the complainant did not ask for compensation from the defence at the final settlement reached over the alleged assault.
