A warrant has been issued by the Baddegama Magistrate Chandima Edirimanna to arrest Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama and his driver.
Three supporters of the deputy minister were arrested earlier this week for allegedly setting fire to a stage in Wanduramba, Galle where presidential candidate Maithripala Sirsena’s rally was to be held.
Minister Muthuhettigama had allegedly attempted to get the arrested, removed from police custody by force while they were being escorted to Courts. Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said they were on the lookout for the deputy minister and his driver for attempting to kidnap the suspects.
