A group of armed men had made off with Rs. 1.4 million from a private bank in Malabe yesterday, the police media unit said.
The police said that two men had arrived on a motorbike and stole the money at gun-point and fled.
A search operation has been launched to locate the two men. The Athurugiriya police are conducting further investigations.
