Over 100 students taking part in anti-Lanka protests were arrested in Chennai on Monday when they tried to lay siege on the Raj Bhavan. Students in Tamil Nadu have stepped up pressure on the Union government, demanding that India move a resolution against Sri Lanka - for its alleged war crimes against Lankan Tamils -- at the United Nation’s human rights body meet later this month.
Large student protests are being held across the state even as the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government tries to hammer out a political consensus with its major ally, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
