Alleged credit card fraudster remanded

A man, who had allegedly purchased mobile phones worth Rs.15 million using fake credit cards, was remanded till 19 June by a Colombo Court recently.

The suspect had allegedly tendered forged documents to a private bank and obtained several credit cards. The suspect was arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on a complaint made by a manager of a private bank.



In his complaint to the CID, the bank officer said, that the suspect who obtained their credit card facilities after tendering forged documents had purchased mobile phones amounting to Rs. 15 million.

When the suspect was produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage, he was ordered to be remanded till 19 June, after taking into consideration the seriousness of the offence.
