All liquor shops closed on November 12

Cabinet Spokesperson Rajitha Senaratne says all liquor shops and meat shops will be closed on November 12 in view of the National Day of Mourning.

The Government has declared next Thursday (12) a national day of mourning for the death of the revered Buddhist leader Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha, who died early Sunday morning at a hospital in Singapore.

The funeral arrangements of late Thera is scheduled on the same day.

All cinema halls in Colombo and all schools in Sri Jayawardenapura will also be closed except for grade 10 and 11, he added.
