The Wellampitiya copper factory worker Karuppiah Rajendran who is in remand allegedly over involvements into the Easter Sunday bomb blast was further remanded till 15 July by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratna yesterday.
The Magistrate further remanded the suspect as the Colombo Crime Division who are conducting investigations on the suspect had not completed the investigations.
The suspect was arrested by the Police over possible involvement of the suspect with the owner of the Wellampitiya copper factory Inshaf Ahamed, who was one of the suicide bombers responsible for the Easter Sunday suicide attacks that took place in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa. Police had earlier recovered three cheques for the value of Rs. 7.5 million from the possession of Karuppiah Rajendran alias Abdullah. Police investigations had revealed that the suspect had maintained a close relationship with Insaf Ahmed who had incidentally spent around Rs. 200,000 for Karuppiah’s wedding.
