Walapane SLFP Organiser sentenced to 12 years in jail

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Walapane organiser, Jagath Kumara Samarahewa, was sentenced to 12 years in jail yesterday, for misusing state vehicles in 2014, and having in his possession an illegal firearm.

The former Chairman of the Walapane Pradeshiya Sabha was sentenced to jail by the Nuwara Eliya High Court.

Jagath Kumara Samarahewa was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 11.5 million. (Colombo Gazette)
