Sri Lanka’s progress in encouraging reading among children impressed International Publishers Association (IPA) President Hugo Setzer, when Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association (SLBPA) President Vijitha Yapa briefed him and IPA Secretary General Jose Borghino at the IPA AGM in Frankfurt last week. Yapa said tremendous progress has been made in the program to encourage reading among children, and President Setzer was amazed to hear that nearly 3 million people had visited the Colombo International Book Fair in September. Setzer said he looked forward to visiting Sri Lanka next April. The IPA has 81 organisations from 69 countries as members.
