Victory for democracy: ACMC

ACMC Leader Rishad Bathiudeen, addressing the media yesterday immediately after the verdict of the Supreme Court to stay President Maithripala Sirisena’s dissolution of Parliament, said the ruling was a victory for democracy.

“The All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) welcomes the Supreme Court stay order on the dissolution of Parliament on 13 November,” he said.

“This is a great victory for our democracy.”

Arriving in court in the afternoon, he stated: “We are confident that justice will be served.”

The ACMC was among the 13 petitioners who went to the Supreme Court against the dissolution of Parliament by President Sirisena.
