Ven. Rathana Thera takes oaths as MP

Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera was sworn-in as a Member of Parliament (MP) before Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday.

He was appointed to fill the National List seat of the Our People Party (APP).

Rathana Thera was first elected to the Parliament from the Kalutara District in 2004, representing the ‘Jathika Hela Urumaya’. He was elected to the seventh Parliament from the United People›s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) in 2010, representing the Gampaha District.

He represented the United National Party (UNP) in the eighth Parliament as a National List Member of Parliament in 2015.
