One person tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, bringing the total count of confirmed cases in the country to 2,753.
Of these, 895 are Sri Lankan returnees from abroad and 31 are foreigners. The remaining cases are local cases, of which 950 are Navy personnel and their close contacts, and 563 belong to the cluster that emerged from the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre and their contacts.
The Epidemiology Unit states that there are 665 persons currently under medical care, including 363 at the Kandakadu Treatment Centre, 88 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, 56 at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), and 53 at the Panagoda Army Hospital.
In addition to this, 46 persons are receiving treatment at the Kattankudy Base Hospital, 26 at the Minuwangoda Base Hospital, nine at the Iranawila Hospital, and two each at the Colombo East Base Hospital and the Kamburugamuwa District General Hospital.
The Epidemiology Unit adds that 13 persons were discharged from hospitals in the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. yesterday, bringing the total number of recoveries in the island to 2,077. Of the new recoveries, seven were discharged from the Panagoda Army Hospital, three from the NIID, two from the Iranawila Hospital, and one from the Colombo East Base Hospital.
According to the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB), Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 recovery rate is 75.47% and the Bureau adds that 145,373 PCR tests have been carried out so far. This includes 1,700 tests on Wednesday.
There are also 101 persons being monitored at various hospitals, including 21 at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital, 11 at the Chilaw General Hospital, and 10 at the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Hospital.
The President’s Media Division yesterday issued a statement on the Itukama COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund, saying the Fund has received Rs. 1,511 million in donations.
