Three Intensive Care Units (ICU) at the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) have been set aside for COVID-19 treatment.
According to a statement issued by the Health Ministry, the ICU facilities include 24 ICU beds, 12 high dependency beds, and high flow oxygen supply.
The Health Ministry Secretary and the Director General of Health Services have been informed to allocate a staff of 80 nurses, 30 doctors, and 25 junior staff members to carry out ICU services.
Measures have also been taken to increase ICU capacities in hospitals and COVID-19 treatment centres, the Health Ministry stated.
