Three COVID-19 deaths bring total to 69

Three COVID-19 deaths were confirmed by health authorities yesterday, bringing the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the island to 69.

According to the Department of Government Information, two individuals from Colombo as well as one individual from Kandana passed away due to COVID-19.

The individual from Kandana was 70-years-old and passed away at home. He died of diabetes complications that arose with COVID-19.

An individual from Colombo-13 also died of diabetes complications that worsened due to COVID-19. He was 48-years-old and died at home.

In addition to this, a 74-year-old resident of Colombo-12 died of high blood pressure, diabetes, and lungs weakened by COVID-19. She died while receiving treatment at the Homagama Base Hospital.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 49 COVID-19 deaths have occurred this month alone, with only 20 COVID-19 deaths recorded on 1 November. The situation report published on 18 October records only 13 deaths.
