TNA leader says support for UNF candidate will be based on solution to national question

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader Trincomalee District MP R. Sampanthan said yesterday that a new Constitution that addresses the national question will be the deciding factor on who the Party chooses to support in the upcoming Presidential Election.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with Prime Minister and UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe last evening, Sampanthan said that a solution to the national question is a must.

“We must find out from the candidates what their solution to the national question is. Only after that can we decide whom to support. They must deliver on the promise of a new Constitution,” Sampanthan said.

He added that the decision of the UNP candidate must be decided by the UNP, and does not concern the TNA.
