In a symbolic presentation held at Podolsk City, First Clinical Hospital, the representatives of the Sri Lankan community in Moscow handed over a consignment of Ceylon Tea, sweets, and other food products to the Association of the Second World War Veterans of the hospital on 2 July.

Kuzmina Nadezhda, the leader of the Association, a 92-year-old decorated veteran who worked at this very hospital for 58 years, was highly thankful for the goodwill gesture of the Sri Lanka community.

Due to pandemic and quarantine restrictions, the Embassy staff could not visit veterans. All members of the Veterans’ Association were not able to participate in the event. Thus, the gifts were home-delivered to each of them.

During the discussion, the members of the Association further expressed their wish to invite the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, Professor M.D. Lamawansa, to visit the Association and the hospital as soon as the pandemic situation is resolved.
