Sri Lanka over the weekend expressed its condolences with India over the loss of lives following a train accident that took place yesterday in Amritsar, Punjab.
President Maithripala Sirisena expressed deep sadness over the tragic loss of lives and injury to many, following the unfortunate train accident that took place yesterday in Amritsar, Punjab.
He said that Sri Lanka stands in solidarity with the people of India at this time of difficulty and, our thoughts and prayers are with those affected.
At least 60 people were killed and 72 injured after a train ran into crowds at Joda Phatak crossing in Amritsar where a large number of people had gathered to watch Ravan effigy burning on Friday evening. (Colombo Gazette)
