Sri Lanka Life Saving in collaboration with Merav Hadar Frumer, a senior lecturer from the International Halliwick Association will hold an aquatic therapy program named, ‘The Power of Water’ with a very clear intention of empowering women and promoting their quality of life.
Most women in Sri Lanka play multiple and key care-giving roles within their family circles neglecting their own health and well-being. The main focus of the program is to enable both physical and mental relaxation, using the healing power of water and training one to be independent in water. The said program consists of therapeutic aquatic activities combined with the Halliwick approach, Ai Chi technique, relaxation techniques and swimming instruction components.
‘The Power of Water’ program will be held from 18 to 24 March at the NCC swimming pool, Colombo 7 selecting more than 10 potential women representing various districts and organisations. The program will be conducted by a IHA recognised Senior Lecturer and Senior Aquatic Therapist Merav Hadar Frumer, a swimming instructor Azira Esufally and resource personnel from Sri Lanka Life Saving.
Sri Lanka Life Saving believes that the implementation of this program will help improve the quality of life, transform and empower communities in Sri Lanka in the long run.
