Emphasising the importance of promoting interfaith harmony, with the participation of the Sri Lankan community and representatives from the Sri Lanka Associations in Berlin, the Embassy of Sri Lanka hosted an Iftar for the second consecutive year on 30 May in the Embassy premises. The Ambassadors of Bangladesh, Maldives and Egypt also graced the event.
In his welcome remarks, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi highlighted that the ethnic diversity in Sri Lanka is well represented among the Sri Lankan community in Berlin and the Embassy, together with the community, has made Iftar an opportunity to display the religious and ethnic harmony despite the recent calamities out broke in the motherland due to the Easter Sunday attacks.
Moulavi Klich enlightened the participants on the importance of maintaining harmony and goodwill among the followers of different religions and how Islam advocates this principle.
The program was concluded with traditional breaking of fast dinner and prayers.
