A special meeting will be held by Chief of Staff of the Presidential Secretariat to find solutions for grievances of members of the police force in Suhurupaya.
President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed Chief of Staff M. M. P. Hitisekara to preside over the meeting scheduled for 24 January which is held once a month.
The meeting held once a month gives the opportunity for members of the police to find solutions to their issues regarding promotions, transfers, disciplinary action and other professional concerns.
Last year the President also appointed a five-member team headed by Hitisekara to inquire into issues faced by the police following two meetings held with top police officials. The committee comprises Law and Order Additional Secretary Thusitha Wanigasinghe, Additional Secretary W. A Dharmasiri, Senior DIG Administration C. D, Wickremaratne, and DIG Ombudsman Division W. M. M. Wikremesinghe.
These members are set to be present at the monthly meeting in Suhurupaya as well.
