Six arrested for assaulting two army soldiers in the North

The Kilinochchi Police yesterday arrested six suspects for assaulting two soldiers of the Army stationed in Kilinochchi Thursday night.

According to the Police, two Tamil soldiers stationed at the Murugandi Army Camp in Kilinochchi had gotten into an argument with another group of youths in the Uttupulam area when they returned home.

The argument had escalated and the group of youths had severely beaten the two soldiers and attacked them with sharp weapons.

Military Spokesman Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne reported that the two soldiers sustained severe injuries during the attack and were admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital. One of them was later transferred to the Colombo General Hospital as his condition was critical, he said.
