Veemansa Initiative, an independent think tank, is organising a Sinhala webinar to coincide with the centenary celebrations of Chinese Communist party (CPC), to be held on 25 June from 4 p.m.
The keynote address of the webinar will be delivered by
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary Admiral Professor Jayanath Colombage on the theme ‘Growing the Economy and Improving People’s Lives: Communist Party and China Success Story’.
The keynote address will be followed by speeches from three experts in their fields – Government Information Department Director General Mohan Samaranayake will be speaking on ‘Is communism is valid in today’s context?’ Long Hua Institute Director Professor Hao Weimin, who will also deliver his speech in Sinhala, will speak on ‘Buddhist cultural roots and developments of Sri Lanka-China relations’. Dr. Vagisha Gunasekara, a researcher and academic who currently is Executive Consultant of the American Institute for Lankan Studies, will speak on ‘Learning lessons from successful poverty alleviation program in China’. A question and answer session will follow the speeches with the participation of Jiang Qinzheng, former Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
The host of this webinar is Veemansa Initiative Managing Director Luxman Siriwardena, who will deliver the introductory remarks and coordinate the Q & A session. The webinar will be conducted on Zoom and live-streamed on Veemansa Facebook page. This is the third of a series of webinars being organised by Veemansa Initiative on current issues.
The participants are expected to enter the webinar room from 3:45 p.m. on 25 June. Prior registration is appreciated.
