Second dose of Covishield administered to 94,436 persons

The second dose of the AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine has been administered to 94,436 persons, including 8,783 persons who received the second jab on Sunday.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 3,445 persons received the second dose on 28 April, 19,474 persons received the second dose on 29 April, and 37,838 persons received the second dose on 30 April.

On 1 May, 24,896 persons received the second jab.

With only 350,000 vaccines set aside to administer the second dose to 925,242 persons who received the AstraZeneca vaccine between 29 January and 15 April, the immunisation program will first provide the second dose to frontline health, military and police personnel.

In addition to the AstraZeneca vaccine, the second dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 2,435 Chinese nationals working in Sri Lanka.
