The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) yesterday completed another 300 PCR tests on randomly selected employees after 11 new COVID-19 infected persons had been identified.

The tests were carried out for employees of Jaya Container Terminals (JCT), and for outsourced workers. The infected persons have been already shifted to quarantine, while all measures have been taken to send their close contacts to self-quarantine. Further, the premises of several places in the JCT, including the canteen, have been disinfected. It was also noted that operations at the Port of Colombo are continuing without any hindrance and every step has been implemented to ensure the health and safety of all those involved in the port’s operations and other related services amidst the pandemic.  Trade unions of the Colombo Port yesterday met with the SLPA Chairman Major General (Rtd) Daya Ratnayake to discuss the possibility of further streamlining the operations of the Port of Colombo, so as to ensure safety of all stakeholders involved in its daily operations.
