The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) yesterday joined the United National Party-led Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) alliance.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Parliament complex yesterday, which was also attended by SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem, Opposition Leader and Leader of the SJB alliance Sajith Premadasa, and senior members of the SLMC.
“We see this as a front established to maintain true national unity,” Hakeem opined, pointing out that the SLMC was a respected political party, and that the party’s parliamentary group had decided to join the SJB alliance.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that their primary objective of this movement is ‘Sri Lanka First’, a path under which all citizens will be treated equally.
