The national insurer Sri Lanka Insurance, together with Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and Litro Gas has donated 10,000 litres of surface disinfectants to be distributed among Municipal Councils, Provincial Councils and Town Councils and necessary government entities as a precautionary measure to mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19.
The surface disinfectants were handed over on 8 May, with the participation of ministers and the senior management of Sri Lanka Insurance.
Further Sri Lanka Insurance donated sanitisers and face masks for 10,400 Economic Development Officers who are in the frontline providing services to the general public.
As a strong stakeholder of the Government initiatives of combating COVID-19, Sri Lanka Insurance has taken manifold initiatives in supporting the Government efforts and the donations were made understanding the significance of following proper hygienic practices to ensure safety and wellbeing of state sector employees and the general public. Among the many initiatives taken to counter COVID-19 are, donation of 10,000 number of 200 ml sanitiser bottles to the Special Task Force who carries out necessary pandemic control measures, Rs. 50 lack donation to the COVID-19 Health and Social Security Fund and the Viru Abhiman – the Rs. 15 lack worth free life cover granted to the state sector employees who are in the frontline battling COVID-19 pandemic.
As the national insurer to the nation, Sri Lanka Insurance has taken the lead to fulfil the duty towards the nation by safeguarding the general public and state sector employees who have come forth to protect the country from the COVID-19 pandemic and to assist the national program of the Sri Lankan Government.
