In a fresh attempt to curb prescription of medicinal drugs without proper registration, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has instructed all medical officers to take necessary actions to immediately register private medical institutes that issue medications.
Addressing an event organised by the All-Island Private Pharmacy Owners Association, the Minister emphasised that the prices of medicinal drugs cannot be controlled as the doctors prescribe drugs without registration.
He said pharmacies in the country that have been registered under the National Medicinal Drug Policy and the Health Ministry are conducting inspection rounds island-wide to monitor if medicinal drugs are being sold at the Government announced controlled prices.
