A meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and the officers of the Sri Lanka Immigration and Emigration Officers’ Association was held at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday (24 May).
Several issues faced by the Immigration and Emigration officers at the professional level were discussed, and the President broadly agreed to find solutions to those issues.
It was agreed upon to discuss these matters with the relevant authorities shortly and to provide step-by-step solutions.
Further steps required to develop the Immigration and Emigration service were also discussed.
President Sirisena also appreciated the services rendered by the Immigration and Emigration officers for the country.
Minister of Internal Affairs and Wayamba Development S. B. Navinna, Secretary to the President Austin Fernando, Secretary to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Wayamba Development D. Swarnapala, Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, and other officials were present at this event.
