The State Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Corporation (SPMC) will get an additional land of over 65 acres in Horana to expand capacity in tandem with growing demand for its products.
The land owned by the Urban Development Authority will be leased to SPMC on a long-term basis. SPMC will use it to expand its production across installation of five facilities since the prevailing premises is insufficient.
The Government said the concurrence of the Board of UDA had been granted to allocate a plot of land in extent of 65 acres and 17.66 perches out of the land extent of 732 acres acquired from Millewa area for the Horana Industrial City Development Project.
A proposal to this effect submitted by the Prime Minister as the Minister of Urban Development and Housing was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Monday.
