People’s representatives of Maravanpulavu village met Northern Province Governor Dr. Suren Raghavan this week at Chief Minister’s Secretariat which is located at Kaithady.
The people of Maravanpulavu waged a vigilant protest recently in front of the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat against the windmills installed in the residential area.
Subsequently, a meeting in this regard was held between Governor, Government Agent of Jaffna, officials from the Urban Development Authority, Divisional Secretary, the Chairman of Pradeshiya Sabha, and five people’s representatives.
The Governor said that it has been decided to have a talk with the Ceylon Electricity Board in this regard on 24 September.
He instructed Pradeshiya Sabha to identify other suitable places to install the windmills.
