The ‘Industries 2022: National Industrial Exhibition’ will commence today under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Industries Minister Wimal Weerawansa at BMICH.
Leading industrialists representing the top 20 industries are set to present their products in 300 stalls at the ‘Industries 2022: National Industrial Exhibition’ organised by the Industrial Development Board (IDB) under the guidance of the Industries Ministry.
The exhibition will be held till 6 February, as another successful step in a national program launched to pave the way for a massive industrial revival in Sri Lanka.
Minister Weerawansa stated that the main objective of the ‘National Industrial Exhibition’ is to generate local and foreign investment opportunities as well as new market opportunities for local entrepreneurs and thereby creating an environment in which they can overcome new market challenges, technological and capital challenges.
He also pointed out that another objective of this ‘National Industrial Exhibition’ is to introduce the nature of local industries to the visitors of the exhibition, and if they have the interest and experience to start a local industry, to provide guidance, technical knowledge, liaison between public and private institutions, as well as guidelines for contacting companies that can provide capital.
Minister Weerawansa explained that the IDB is also ready to encourage the future generation - school children, who will be visiting the exhibition to become entrepreneurs through their vocational skills and formal vocational training.
The ‘Industries 2022: National Industrial Exhibition’, is also expected to promote industrial innovations and various research initiated by universities, other government, and private institutions and to provide the necessary facilities to integrate these products into a practical production mechanism through the exhibition.
